Mark Washofsky is the Solomon B. Freehof Professor of Jewish Law and Practice at HUC-JIR in Cincinnati. His publications specialize in the development of the halakhah, Jewish law and legal theory, and Jewish bioethics. He is the author of Jewish Living: A Guide to Contemporary Reform Practice (URJ/Behrman House, 2010). He is a former member of the CCAR Responsa Committee, of which he served as chair from 1996-2017. He currently serves as president of the Freehof Institute of Progressive Halakhah.
